Professional Background

I have worked as a psychologist for more than 25 years across military, organisational and operational settings. Throughout that time, my work has ranged from psychological assessment and individual support to leadership development, coaching, professional supervision, organisational capability and the development of other psychologists.

Much of my career has been within Defence, working across the Australian Army, Australian Public Service, ADF Careers and Royal Australian Navy. This has included leadership and professional governance roles, as well as operational experience supporting individuals and teams working in complex and demanding environments.

Alongside my Defence work, since 2019 I have worked as a Senior Consultant Psychologist with Communicorp Group. This includes conducting psychological suitability assessments supporting the Australian Antarctic Program — work that brings together my interests in assessment, people and adaptation to unusual and challenging environments.

Across these different settings, the common thread has been an interest in how people understand themselves, work with others, adapt to change and find meaning and purpose in what they do.

Leadership, Coaching & People Development

Much of my work has involved helping people better understand themselves, recognise their strengths and develop the confidence and capability to lead and work effectively with others.

I am an accredited organisational coach and Strengths Profile Practitioner, and my approach draws on organisational and positive psychology, strengths-based practice and more than two decades of experience working with leaders and teams.

My coaching work is practical and reflective, creating space for people to think more clearly about how they lead, the choices they are making, and what they want the next stage of their professional and personal lives to look like.

Psychology in Challenging Environments

I've long been interested in how people adapt to environments that place unusual demands on individuals and teams — including isolation, uncertainty, separation from familiar supports, and the need to live and work closely with others.

That interest has been shaped by my work in military psychology and by my longstanding connection with Antarctica. Since 2019, I have conducted psychological suitability assessments for people seeking to live and work in Antarctica with the Australian Antarctic Program, alongside other work involving psychological assessment and adaptation to demanding environments such as submarines.
